The mandate of the National Agricultural Study and Research Institute (INERA) is to carry out agriculture and forestry research throughout the national territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

The INERA’s research topics include the effects of climate change, the protection of natural resources and biodiversity, and the management of agricultural and forest ecosystems. It has five research centres and four research stations scattered throughout the national territory.

Its 16 priority programmes address the country’s main crop, animal and fishery production, forestry and agroforestry and natural resources. Its vision is to generate knowledge and technology that supports farmers' demands and opportunities across the value chain.

Its mission is to ensure the programming, coordination and monitoring of all agricultural research activities across the country, including studies, action research and agricultural and forestry (silvicultural) experiments.

Through its research, INERA contributes to the success of the DYNAFAC initiative.
